Dear Friends, December, 2010
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” (Jer. 29:11) This verse has been ringing thru my mind a lot in the past year. It has become my favorite verse along with…”whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content (that is not worded right…but that idea). Many things have happened in the last year that were not exactly as I’d expected them to be but where I am right now, I’m convince that is where God wants me at the moment. Sometimes I really wonder if I made the right choices but then I realize I’m happy and content with life…
Back in January, I had plans to go to Maranatha Bible School for 3 week. I went a few days early and got to see some of my Idaho friends plus got to see somewhat how 1st and 2nd terms function before plunging right into it. So then I spent the next 3½ weeks getting to know new people and learning more about God and His word… The next 4 weeks I served as a substitute teacher for Ruthie Schrock in Hayward, WI. She went to Maranatha with her husband, Dan, who was the principal 3rd term. I enjoyed being in Wisconsin as I got to live with my dad’s oldest sister, Arla and family! While I was there I FINALLY got to do a LITTLE bit of snowmobiling and also did some ice skating, plus got to enjoy the loveliness of spring break up! Ha!
I came home planning to get into normal life of keeping house and whatever goes with that, but a few weeks after I got home, a couple from church who run a small country store asked me to work there on Saturdays…and till it was all said and done I ended up working Wednesdays and Saturdays….Then in early summer I had several job offers. I ended up taking the milking job and I have been really enjoying my almost 4 months of milking in my own…I started in July but wasn’t on my own till August. Those cows sure keep life interesting…you never know what might happen!
This summer in July among all the jobs I had acquired I was able to make a 9 day trip to Idaho….It was soooo good to be back. In a way it was like going home! ;-) I always forget how I LOVE the wonderful scenery out there until I go back…I didn’t forget as much this time as sometimes because I have a ton of scenery pictures from when I lived there. Ryan, my brother, was able to come out with me and it was fun showing him all my friends out there!
While we were out we did a few things I hadn’t got to do while I lived out there…We went to a Swinging bridge over the Kootenai river in Montana, went up Roman Nose mountain and hiked to all three lakes, and also one day I went and hiked to a few waterfalls w/ a friend! So we definitely stayed BUSY while we were there! And is was a lot of fun to see all my friends and cousins and other relations while I was out there! Also while we were there the girl I had taught school with got married, so we were able to take in her wedding. It was Valerie Byler to Dennis Beachy.
In August, we went as a family to a Skrivseth reunion in Wisconsin of just dad’s brothers and sisters and parents. It was so much fun being there and visiting and seeing all of them again…especially my cousin, Lisl and her husband, Dru, and little boy, Jube, who lives in Thailand.
Then it was come home and stick my nose to the grind stone! I started working more days at the store plus milking 5 afternoons a week. On the days that I work and milk, I work from 8:30 to 2:30 and get home around 3 and then leave about 20 minutes later for the barn! Then if there is something happening that evening I’m practically not home that day! And sometimes it makes my life feel hectic…but I have gotten used to it for the most part and don’t think about it anymore….
And as if I don’t think I have enough to do I have started a small ‘business: of painting signs…plagues…or whatever you call them! This fall I decided to build up a small inventory and then I put them in the office and at the store where I work. I’ve sold a few here and there. This summer I made dad 5 signs that were about 8 ft long. These were to hang above the big doors at the front of the shop. So that kept me busy for quite a while! Now around Christmas I have had several orders (which I like best…cause I know they will sell) ;-) plus I’ve still been building up my stock…I love doing is so it’s not a chore at all! This is not a very good money making business… but it does bring in a little extra spending money here and there. Oh and I do ship! Hint! I’ll gladly make you one! Just give me a call….or text me @....803-383-1619 or you can also email me at jennirose87@gmail.com.
This past Tuesday was mom and daddy’s 25th anniversary and I had wanted to do something a little bit special…and really wasn’t sure what to do, but decided to just do nice supper for them. So Monday I worked pretty much all day on make food such as bread, jello, and a cake…I had to work all day Tuesday…so then Andrea and Maurita made the rest of the food and got the table all decorated nice and pretty and we had a more formal supper then normal! All the boys weren’t sure what to do w/ themselves! Ha! They thought it was too formal! Then we ended up spending the evening all in the living room which our family just doesn’t do unless we are having family devotions! I think mom and daddy thought it was pretty special when it was all said and done and I even thought it was fun for once!
This is pretty much what my year consisted of….and I can definitely say I’m glad that I have a God who leads me each step of the way! I’m glad Jesus didn’t stay in the manger, but was willing to die for ME! May the Lord bless you and yours richly in the coming year! And as a closing word here are a few lines from one of my favorite songs….
I want us to be together in heaven,
I want to walk down the street of pure gold,
I want to run thru the fields of green clover,
See the river,
Smell the flowers,
Hear the gentle breezes blowing…
I want us to be together in heaven!
This is my prayer as we enter the New Year!
