Building a business....

Who knew building a business could be so complicated? At least the one I hope to build is. There's photography to learn. Marketing to master. Not to mention the work of building the product! Actually that's the easiest part...the building...I've been doing that for years. And then there is bookkeeping... :-(

The last couple months I've been trying to build my Sign making business to become a little more of a full time event. Not knowing the logistics that goes into it...I blindly started an Etsy shop. (GenevasCreations if your looking on Etsy). I didn't know what SEO meant....at....all....But I think I know what it means now. The only thing is that I have not mastered the art of it. I printed off an article called Etsy Boot Camp...I bought a new book about marketing a small business.  I feel like I need a collage course or something. I sorta feel like I am still somewhat blindly floundering around with it. Hopefully eventually I can feel a little more mastered. But for now...I'm still researching. Watching You Tube tutorials on Marketing and Etsy set up. And looking at other peoples shops and websites.

The Photography? I was talking with a friend a couple months ago and mentioned about the need for a really good camera but not wanting to spend just a mountain of money...She said she just happened to have one to get rid of! Talk about a blessing from God! It's not perfect, but I am glad I was able to find this particular camera. It's filling my needs and I'm able to learn on it. Maybe one day I'll just become a photographer and skip all the other stuff and travel the world instead! :-) I'm guessing that would be a fun life! One for the dream books... For now though I will just dream up attractive sign displays and snap people, flowers, and scenery on the off days.

Next on the list of purchases is some equipment of my own. I've been using dad's which are almost as old as me...which is old in the Tools part of life! (Well, at least the table saw is:-) That remains to be seen as I'm taking a few weeks off at the beginning of the summer...so right now it's on hold.

I guess you can say this is the next big exciting thing in life...although I'm not really sure why I waited till I was 30 to start building my own business...for those of you out there that are 20-25 it might be good to start building something NOW!

And for the rest of you...please go find my shop and favorite a few items and look around awhile...it will help my SEO out! :-) The link for the shop is...https://www.etsy.com/shop/GenevasCreations

Y'all take care now...
